{BE} Inspired | Muffins and Sentiment |Colorado Photographer

It has been a LONG time since I was creative and imaginative and sentimental in the kitchen. Did you know that my first love… the thing I dreamed to be when I grew up was not a (*GASP*) photographer? I wanted to be a chef. Not just any chef…. a pastry chef 🙂 Not the kind that makes gorgeous cakes and such. The kind that opens up a small bakery/coffee house… Like on F.R.I.E.N.D.S.! I love that show… and I love to bake. I’ve forgotten about that in my busy life… and then today happened.

While baking the SNOT out of some cinnamon rolls for the annual family reunion it hit me. Inspiration. I haven’t felt that in awhile 🙂

My mommy and I share a love for the same DQ treat… especially when pregnant… Cherry Chocolate and Banana shake. O.M.G. It’s Heaven on Earth providing they get it right (It’s quite the order so they rarely do…. but when they do…MMM!) I had a sudden craving for it today so I did what any baker at heart would do… I made them into muffins 🙂

I used to make up crazy recipes all the time, but this time felt like a little more. I had no recipe. I just threw some stuff in my handy mixer and remembered all I had learned in school.

And they’re delicious. They taste like the real thing. Success. The FIRST time. I needed that.

Anyways… I decided to take pictures (because that’s what I do!) and share the recipe with you!

It’s a basic banana bread recipe with a twist.

Cherry Chocolate Banana Muffins

3 c Flour

5 tsp cocoa powder

2 tsp Baking soda

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

4 ripe bananas

~1 1/2 c sugar (I just eyeballed)

2 eggs

2/3 c melted butter

1 c frozen (quartered, thawed, rinsed, dried) Cherries (Again… Just eyeballed)

Bag of Cherry chips (Or chocolate chips)

Mix wet. Mix dried. Combine. Add cherries and cherry chips.

Bake at 325* 15-20 min in greased muffin tins.

Life is not just about the kids, the business, the dishes and the like. Sometimes you have to find time for old passions too 😉
